Data Management Plans and Odum Services

Managing research data is a growing interest and concern for researchers as funding agencies move to requiring data management plans in all proposals. NIH has required data sharing plans in their grant proposals (for grants $500K or larger) since 2003. The NSF recently released guidelines for a new requirement that goes into effect on January 18, 2011 for their grant proposals to include data management plans.

Planning for research data management is not only good practice but increasingly a necessity. The Odum Institute can guide researchers to solutions for their data management needs. We can assist you by giving you information on key considerations for managing research data, providing information on the details of the recently released NSF requirements, and identifying UNC and other resources to assist you in preparing data management plans.
